SEEING OTHERS THROUGH CHRIST’S EYES When Jesus looks at us, what does He see? He sees a world of people who are “confused and helpless.” What is His response? He has “compassion” for us because we are “like sheep without a shepherd.”   Do you see what Jesus sees? Have you ever asked the Lord

“Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners” (Matthew 9:13 NLT).

GO AND LEARN The Pharisees asked why Jesus ate with sinners and He answered with a rabbinic response: “Go and learn.” For rabbis were known for sending their students back to the Scriptures to discover the answers to their own questions. Jesus quoted from the prophet Hosea where God had said, “For I desire mercy

ARE YOU FOCUSED ON THE STORM OR THE SAVIOR? At first the disciples were afraid of the storm outside the boat, then they feared the One inside the boat. “Who is this man?” They wondered. He demonstrates authority over both the seen and the unseen creation. For both storms and evil spirits obey Him. Who

KNOCKING ON HEAVEN’S DOOR Jesus used one verb and three participles to teach persistence in prayer. His verb was “keep on.” This gives the idea of persistent and ongoing prayer. Yet, it has a stopping point with a promise. We are to “keep on” until we receive, find, or have opened that which is the

TIME FOR A HEART CHECKUP So, how can we get a heart checkup? Jesus taught that one way to get a spiritual heart check-up is to consider what you treasure most. Because wherever your treasure is, that’s where your heart is. So, the question becomes not “where is my heart?” But “where is my treasure?”

“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20 HCSB).

A PROMISE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY AND EVERY DAY Every believer should know the Great Commission, which is Christ’s command to make disciples of all nations. But let us not forget that the Lord’s command ends with a promise: “I am with you always.” He promises to “never leave us nor forsake us” (Heb. 13:5). Yes,

CHRIST’S FULFILLMENT OF THE SCRIPTURES On the night of Christ’s betrayal and arrest, He ordered His disciples not to resist. For He said that what was happening was according to the Scriptures. Hearing this, the disciples “deserted Him and ran away.”   What about what “happened” that night was a fulfillment of the Scriptures?

“And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’” (Matthew 25:40 HCSB).

LOVE FOR THE LEAST Jesus’ teaching on the end times included this image of the righteous being commended for caring for the “least” of Christ’s brethren. Jesus equated their care for the hungry, sick and imprisoned in His flock, as caring for Him. For the Church is His body of which He is the Head.

“Whoever humbles himself like this child—this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:4 HCSB).

DESCENDING TO GREATNESS The disciples were constantly debating among themselves the question of who would be the greatest when Jesus came into His kingdom. They finally asked Jesus. He answered by calling a little child over to Him and saying that unless they repented of their sins and became as this child they wouldn’t even
